Tina James for Whistler Council How to voteVote

Thank you, Whistler.

The vote didn't go my way this time. Thank you to everyone who voted for me, volunteered, shared a post or stopped me in the village to talk.

Whistler still has real challenges ahead. I'm not going anywhere. I'll keep standing up for people, for our bears and for the land we share.

Follow my bear work at BearKind. You can also find me on Facebook.

A small idea, close to my heart

Not every good idea needs a big budget. This one needs soil, plants, and a few spare hours.

Garden Pals

A shared garden in town, where seniors get a hand when they want one.

  • Raised beds at waist height. No kneeling.
  • Free soil, plants and tools.
  • Book a helper on a simple website. No sign-up needed.
  • Or just show up on garden days.

Some beds grow flowers for the wild bees that pollinate our bears' berries. No fruiting plants, so it stays bear smart.

This works elsewhere. Maple Ridge has run a seniors and students garden since 2012. A federal seniors grant built it.

AWARE already runs Whistler's community gardens. MAC is our seniors' group. I'll ask council to find the land and work with both.

The kind of beds I mean. Photos from other gardens, not Whistler.

Whistler is on the shared, unceded territory of the Squamish Nation and Lil’wat Nation. I believe in truth and reconciliation.
